The Nash Rev.b is a dedicated preamplifier and phono equalizer for each model of phono cartridge. It has two phono inputs, one for low-level MC phono cartridges and one for mid- to high-level MC phono cartridges and MM phono cartridges.
Its totally discrete-component circuit with J-FET input is characterized by a very low noise floor and high gain, enabling it to achieve an output voltage of 2.5 Vrms with 5mV on MM and 170uV on MC. Passive RIAA is implemented with high-precision polypropylene capacitors.
The MC interface parameters (input impedance and MC pre-pre gain) are set by the potentiometer from the rear panel. The MM interface parameters (input impedance and capacitance load) are also set by the dip-switches, also from the rear panel.
You can control the Nash Rev.b with the front panel encoder and using the supplied infrared remote controlà. A menu allows you to set parameters such as: rumble filter, MM input gain, etc.
Two auxiliary line-level inputs make the Nash Rev.b a hub or switch box for analog sources, an attractive plus when the Nash is used in conjunction with the Young MkIV Rev.b or other equipment with only one analog input, to take full advantage of the only available analog input. A system based on Young MkIV Rev.b and Nash Rev.b can have a total of four analog sources: two phono and two high-level (tuner, recorder…).
The noise performance and sound of the Nash Rev.b can be further enhanced by replacing the supplied wall-mount switching power supply with the M2Tech Van der Graaf MKII ultra-low noise power supply.
