The “Manunta Classic” amplifier recently arrived in my system, and I wanted to express my thoughts. I had a Pre Kit Lamm LL 2.1 revalved Mullard nos and a Norma Revo 70B which I used in power amp mode. In truth I was quite happy with the sound coming out of it, for the phono section I had a Lemhann black cube if two chassis, anyone who knows this product knows what I am talking about. I promised myself to downsize the system, too many components, cables, cords, flip-flops. So I began to do market surveys and try a few integrated amps. Gi integrated tried a total of four from the price range between 3500 and 6300 euros.( For the sake of fairness I do not list the brands and models) During the purchase phase I also contacted several stores in the industry that had in addition to the Manunta Classic other brands in which I was interested. And in their considerations often emerged this name, “Manunta Classic”. Intrigued, I decided to try it out. Between me and myself I had already pronounced, whatever amplifier I got could not outperform my pre and power amp. Purchased and installed this Manunta in my system immediately I had reconsidered. Freshly turned on and not yet broken in I didn’t think it was bad, but it lacked a bit of harmonics and materiality in the mids. I thought this is normal, I come from a tube preamp and it fits. At the level of scene, information, I lost practically nothing and I thought this is already a good start. On closer listening I also notice a clear improvement in dynamics and transients and especially in depth. In truth I must say that of depth was a paramenter I had been missing for a long time. So with my beloved Spendor 3/1 with this amp now in addition to jazz, classical and pop, I can also venture into the meanderings of harder rock and blues. Last consideration, as soon as it was installed as I told you I notice a bit of dryness of harmonics, but after days of listening these also emerged even if they do not reach my tube preamp I had previously. To those who are intent on changing their integrated and need a very good phono board and headphone output in addition to the usual names I recommend trying it out to listen. You never know you might get some welcome surprises. Good listening then.
